Gavin Gervais will be graduating from Southridge High School where he competed in football and track all 4 years, earning 7 varsity letters. His character and work ethic are easily recognized by his three time selection as both a football team captain as well as a team MVP. Last fall, the Mid-Columbia Conference recognized Gavin as the MCC Student Athlete Award for his outstanding achievement in athletics, academics and in the community.
Gavin has stayed busy outside of the classroom, whether helping at Southridge’s annual blood drives or working the snack bar to help raise funds for his teams. During the summer months, he has been a trainer at the schools’ Athletic Development Camp as well as coached for both the Southridge and City of Kennewick Youth Football Camps.
Gavin has taken many honors and advanced placement classes during high school and always strives to do his very best. Getting the right answers is not enough – he wants to understand why the right answer is the right one! One teacher noted that once he learned a concept, it was not unusual for Gavin to be found helping teach it to other students who were still struggling with it – just as he had been earlier.
His ethics and dedication are evident both on the field and in the classroom. One reference cited “Gavin is top notch and by far one of the hardest working and kind-hearted people you will ever meet.”
Gavin is a member of National Honor Society and will be one his school valedictorians, graduating with a 4.0 GPA.
