Rachel Roberts is graduating from Columbia High in Burbank where she has competed in cross country, basketball and softball earning 9 varsity letters during her high school career. Her work ethic and natural understanding of team effort, earned her multiple selections as team captain for both basketball and softball.
Rachel has been busy throughout her time in high school. She’s held several class and ASB offices, as well as other club leadership positions, but perhaps one of the most telling leadership roles she has had presented this year, when she was selected to be a representative on the Columbia School District – School Board.
Rachel credits participation in sports for teaching her many life lessons, including personal perseverance, dealing with adversity and the value of serving others.
Upon learning that a student athlete from a rival school (whom she had competed against) was diagnosed with leukemia, Rachel felt compelled to help out. She led a spirit chain fundraiser at Burbank and was thrilled to present the family with over $3,000 to help with expenses. However, what she didn’t expect was the personal joy and sense of pride that she received by giving to others.
In addition to her athletics and activities Rachel has demonstrated excellence in the classroom. She has been in National Honor Society for 3 years and currently holds a 3.8 GPA
